Terry ScherlingMajor General Terry L. Scherling (Ret.) is President and CEO of TENICA and Associates, LLC, a national defense and homeland security consulting firm providing support to both public and private sector (government and non‐governmental) clients. Major General Scherling has a unique combination of 33 years of military and civilian experience in the federal government.

Major General Schering's leadership positions speak to her expertise and success in areas of national defense and homeland security. She served as a special assistant to the Chief, National Guard Bureau, a chief executive officer providing plans, programs and resources for more than 460,000 personnel across 54 states and territories supporting worldwide operations with an annual budget in excess of $22B. As director of the NGB Joint Staff, she was the primary advisor to the Chief, NGB for all domestic military operations. Earlier, she served as the Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Force Protection world-wide, Homeland Defense and Military Support to Civil Authorities. She successfully provided vulnerability assessments worldwide and established the Department of Defense biometric forensic program in Iraq and Afghanistan, contributing to the apprehension of insurgents, terrorists, and criminals. Major General Scherling was, moreover, one of the key leaders to pioneer and provide oversight to the Joint IED Defeat Organization, which has saved lives by providing a 4 billion dollar investment in technology and non‐technology solutions, annually. She has made formal presentations and briefings to Congress, the White House-led Counter‐Terrorism Support Group, Homeland Security Council, Secretary of Homeland Security, Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and National Guard Adjutants General.

In addition, General Scherling was the architect for the Air Force risk assessment strategy that defined the Homeland Defense capabilities and served to inform the Air Force’s investment strategy. Earlier, Gen Scherling served as the Chief Support Officer for the Air National Guard, where she had oversight of medical, engineering, and environmental services, personnel, information management, and logistics for 88 flying units and 250 supported units across the 54 states and territories supporting global operations.
